Taiwan 2023
Eastern Taiwan by car — ageing parents, the Pacific coast, and Qingshui Cliff.
When was the last trip where I really travelled? Even with a newborn we managed Pattaya and Khao Yai. But Taiwan felt different — it was chosen for a reason.
Ageing parents. Limited time. You start doing the maths.
We rented a car and drove Eastern Taiwan, prioritising time together over ticking off landmarks. The conversations in the car were the destination.
Chongde Beach
We arrived and I was immediately captivated — dark sand mixed with pebbles, the full expanse of the Pacific in front of us. The sound of crashing waves is inherently meditative. I could have stayed there all afternoon.
Qingshui Cliff
Imposing formations shaped by millennia of elements. Waves creating dramatic percussion against the rocks below. The scale of things.
